Bicyclist Killed, Motorcyclist Injured in Crash Near Long Island Intersection

An investigation is underway after a fatal crash near a Long Island intersection overnight.

It happened around 9:25 p.m. Tuesday, June 29 in Copiague.

Steven Kay,  age 34, of North Babylon, was riding his 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Great Neck Road when it struck Pedro Espinal-Estevez, age 53, of Copiague, who was riding his bicycle westbound crossing Great Neck Road, Suffolk County Police said.

Espinal-Estevez was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Kay was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with non-life-threatening injuries.

The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check.
